John Westman

John Westman is a practitioner and teacher of professional selling and sales management at Harvard Extension School and Boston College. John’s students say he “brings a passion and enthusiasm that pairs with an unparalleled depth of knowledge on world class selling” and “it is extremely rare to find a teacher who has so much hands-on experience, passion and eagerness to go over and above to help others grow, learn and succeed.”

Westman has led commercial efforts—including strategy, sales management, marketing, business development, and strategic partnerships—resulting in improved business results for market-leading and start-up healthcare companies. He is currently VP, Project Management for Citius Pharmaceuticals. Before Citius, he co-founded Novellus, Inc., an mRNA-based biotech company.

Prior positions include general manager and vice president of marketing and sales for companies in dermatology, pharmaceutical information, dialysis equipment, and dialysis services. John led U.S. and global marketing and sales training at Baxter Healthcare’s Renal division and started his career at a Bain Consulting & Baxter consulting firm.

He has a BA in French and English from Colgate, an MA in international relations from the University of Wisconsin, an MBA in marketing from Kellogg Graduate School of Management, and is a Fulbright Scholar. John has taught at the Harvard Extension School and Boston College since 2005.
